A Description of Fantasy for Lever Harp and Chamber Orchestra The Fantasy for Lever Harp and Chamber Orchestra was published in 2008. Although listed as a piece for lever harp, it can also be performed on pedal harp. Fantasy for Lever Harp and Chamber Orchestra, composed by Barbra Bailey Bradley, is a short work for lever harp to be performed with an ensemble. It works with a woodwind quintet and string quintet combination or a chamber orchestra. The orchestra parts are also available as a piano reduction. This version was premiered on the 2008 Annual Concert of the Washington Area Folk Harp Society, and was later performed at the 2008 Somerset on the Potomac Festival. Two themes alternate between orchestra and solo harp, the harp having an “a piacere” style against the orchestra’s more straight-forward approach. In the opening, as the orchestra introduces the first theme, the harp accompanies with arpeggiated figures and scales. The harp then takes that theme as a solo. A chorale follows, played by just orchestra. After a short cadenza, the harp plays rolled chords as the orchestra introduces the second theme. The harp repeats the second theme as a solo and the orchestra then plays both themes at the same time. The harp completes the first theme in the “a piacere” style, recaps the beginning of the piece, and brings the orchestra back in for the finale. The entire piece is just under seven minutes in length. Fantasy for Lever Harp – Full Score and Parts [including the piano reduction] - sells for $25.00 plus P&H and MD Sales Tax when applicable.
